The numbers

The ad for September 18 to 24 reaches 166 stores in 144 ZIP codes, in 17 regional versions. The largest covers 43 stores from West Chester to Doylestown, and four versions serve a single store. Sixteen versions carry 292 to 306 items. The two stores in Everett and Saxton get a short ad of 108.

Across all seventeen, there are 374 distinct items. 245 are in every full version and 18 appear in one version only. A third of every version is multi-buys: 101 of the 306 items in the largest, most often 2 for $6 or 2 for $7.

One item, five prices

30 items change price with the version. Michelob Ultra 15 packs are $16.49 in Philadelphia and $13.99 in Williamsport. Philadelphia prices soda on its own: a Pepsi 6 pack is buy 3 get 3 free in fifteen versions and $4.99 in the city.
