McDonald's runs only 26 of them, through McDonald's Restaurants of California, Inc. The other 88 registry-backed stores are franchised across 40 legal entities that collapse into 21 owner groups. The two largest are families with 12 stores each.

HAFA Management, MINC, and AV Challenger read as three unrelated operators. Officer records collapse them to one family: Andrew, Hernando, and Mary Marroquin of Lancaster, with 12 stores. The Harper-Williams family holds 12 stores through 12 per-store shells, every one named Nicker, all mailing to one Carson address. Ten more stores file under six names, GBAL, Onemor, Tambien, Es Posible, Rosehen, and Partners H & R, all sharing one suite on S Figueroa St. Officer records put Sean Lucero behind three of them. We call these hidden chains.
The registration dates on the active roster reach back to 1962. A companion dataset of ended registrations reaches back to 1964. Together they give the operator history of each address:
The dominant pattern is refranchising. Corporate's own ended registrations sit under at least 10 stores now run by franchisees. The city's data records the handoffs of 2004 to 2018, store by store.
Limitations: city limits only, no suburbs. The registry lags new openings by up to a year, and principals stay blank where public records name no one.
